Who is Scarlet:

Scarlet Penta is an eccentric but passionate vocalist from a small European country called The Netherlands.

A little bit of history:

Having a will of her own and being quite eccentric, Scarlet was already known as ‘the strange kid on the block’ in her early years. She grew up in a large family that already brought forth several talented artists and musicians such as her own father and his nephew who were once known as the Reno Brothers (labeled under CNR and BIG LIFT records). Because of that she grew up surrounded by music mainly from the 60’s, 70’s 80’s and 90’s which would later become a great influence in her own taste of music.

When it was discovered in 2001 at the age of 13 that she inherited the talent for singing as well, it was only natural she started to dream of the same career her father once practiced. She decided she wanted to share her voice and passion with people from all around the world!

In the beginning:

It started with karaoke nights, singing competitions and talent shows. Some she won, some she lost, but even so she just enjoyed entering because it meant she could sing, and that was the most important thing to her. But being very insecure about her own ability, she received a hard smack in the face by the “skilled” Popstars jury, as they kindly advised her to stay out of the music world. She held herself back and thought; maybe I can’t do this after all. For a few years she stopped her musical activities and pushed her dream to a deep dark corner somewhere in the back of her mind.

When music boils in your blood:

Then, in 2010, one of her friends dragged her to a concert in Germany of an internationally known Japanese artist. That concert made her musical blood boil and inspired her so much that she decided to pick up music again. Then somewhere during the summer she crossed paths again with Joost Maglev, bassist/ backing vocalist of popular Dutch symphonic metal band Galanor who told her to audition as vocalist for Galanor as they were in need of a new one. As soon as she accepted the offer an audition was arranged, and literally hours after her first audition she was informed that she impressed everyone with her voice and was proclaimed new vocalist of Galanor.

Ready, set, go!

With Galanor, her real musical career started. Every week that passed she learned more and gained more experience. She started to write her own lyrics and in combination with her fellow band members this brought forth her first song “When I return”. Slowly she dared to think about her old dream again. The dream of wanting to share her voice and passion with people from all around the world!

While Galanor was doing great, an album recording and many gigs including a UK tour still scheduled, bad news came to her ears which broke her heart; Galanor was going on hiatus due to various reasons.

For the Future:

It took a while for her to overcome the blow of her beloved band splitting up, but a new opportunity soon arose. Fellow band member and friend Joost Maglev offered to record a mini album containing four tracks with her as a reward for her hard work and devotion the Galanor. With the blessing of the other ex-members, it was decided that the album would contain two songs originally written for Galanor. Together, Joost and Scarlet created two more songs; Face in the crowd and That one special person, making a total of four songs.
Scarlet’s first album “Specialty” is to be recorded in the last two weeks of April, mixed of by a professional and expected to be ready around mid May.

Scarlet about her Music:

“I think my music and the music I am aiming for is not something you could place into one genre really. It's a mix of melodic pop music combined with a strong rock edge. There are harder and heavy songs but also sensitive power ballads which are supported by solid compositions. My personal influences come from different musical time era’s and cultures. The 4 tracks on my upcoming mini album “Specialty” will be divided into two powerful power ballads and two other tracks that definitely have a strong dark rock edge to it, all made possible by my former band members.”
